Another great turn out of fighters and supporters for the GFKC’s second tournament of 2010 with a fantastic array of skills performed on the mats and in the ring also. Junior competitors got the day started with semi contact action and some great battles to get the crowd interested. Some bouts went to extra time and even sudden death were the first to score won the fight.
Demonstrations were also performed by Cameron Brandon and Luke Tomlinson with the aid of the bo staff, Daniel Chapman and Oliver Logan with the aid of the nun-chaku’s. Joe Axcell, Ethan Noton and Oliver Logan performed a display of various techniques to show off their skills in kickboxing which was marked by the senior instructor for Joe’s assistant instructors assessment and Josh Fawn displayed his skills with the aid of his nun-chaku’s in a fantastic performance to end the demo’s section of the day!
The junior light continuous sections were next up with all the kids showing their skills in the ring and performing very well. The adults semi and light continuous were just as exciting as the juniors with some fighters having their first experience of competing. Everyone fought very well and gave the crowd lots to cheer about.
The whole idea of the inter-club’s is to gain experience in a tournament environment but without all the traveling, expense and nervousness of the big day. A massive thank you to all who came along and either competed, supported or helped out, it was a fantastic day and all proceeds that the club collected will go towards new equipment so keep an eye out in your next class! Well done everyone!
