Saturday 13th July was a scorching hot day and 2 fighters travelled down to Lincoln fight factory for a full contact show hosted by the home club in Lincoln which was a great night of kickboxing.
First up to fight was Conor Dunk who weighed in at 63.2kg which was perfect and you could tell he had put the training in before this fight too. His opponent was from the Lincoln fight factory so home advantage was theirs but this didn’t faze Conor at all as he stepped into the ring with a very focused look on his face. During the first round Conor caught his opponent with a jab, hook combination which rocked him straight away and sent him into the corner where Conor followed and delivered even more fast and direct punches followed some strong kicks to the mid section! Round 2 was also a great 2 minutes for Conor as he continued to deliver fast combinations with his hands followed powerful round kicks to the belly! The onslaught carried on throughout the 2nd round and once the bell rang the opponent had thrown in the towel as it was just too much for him giving Conor the win and another victory for the strike team fighter with a very promising future within full contact!
Next up to fight was Kevin Benson weighing in at 93kg and looking lean! As his team mate did, he looked very focused on winning and stepped between the ropes to bow to each judge and prepare for a battle. The first round started with both big guys throwing some very direct straight shots into the head and body. The southpaw opponent from the home gym came on strong against Kev and was very accurate with his body shots but this didn’t faze him and started to open up the opponent with jab’s and round kicks. Kev used his footwork to create a nice angle and deliver straight right hand between the guard which sent his opponent down to the canvas for a 10 count and another victory for the strike team!
Big well done to both boys who not only fought very well but certainly put the hard work in at the gym! Thank you to all the supporters who made the journey down to Lincoln on that hot and sticky evening also
